Project Pride, a program of One Step A La Vez, is an activities based support group for LGBTQ+ teens and young adults to meet and be themselves. Project Pride was created in response to youth identified need for more supportive spaces outside of school. Straight/cisgender are allies also welcome.
Project Pride meets once per week, in both Fillmore and Santa Paula. (During COVOD-19 we are meeting all together weekly via Zoom). For times and locations, please check our calendar page or call / email 805-625-7067 or email@example.com for the most updated information. Project Pride centers the voices of LGBTQ+ youth and bridges youth to many of the local resources aimed at improving their physical and mental wellness. These resources include free counseling, access to healthcare, sex education, and psycho-social education with curriculum built for topics raised by youth.
Project Pride partners with Planned Parenthood for sex education, the Coalition For Family Harmony for Psychoeducation and to provide free counseling services.
Social Equality Club is a weekly anti-bullying club at Fillmore High School that was begun by One Steppers who wanted a brave space club at school for LGBTQ+ identified youth, but they also wanted the club to create support for any one who was experiencing bullying or marginalization for any reason at school. One Step A La Vez staff provide curriculum and facilitation support for this FHS club. If you are an FHS student interested in attending joining the club you can add yourself to the Remind text blast by texting @socialequ to the number 81010.
